Candidate J.D. Maddox's "4FOR4" Program Offers College Degrees for Service in Virginia

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 11, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Virginia House of Delegates candidate J.D. Maddox, whose 45th District includes eastern Alexandria and parts of Arlington and Fairfax, has released a new program concept to create and fill jobs, eliminate student debt, and offer a bridge to employment for underserved communities.

In response to community leaders calling for skilled workers to fill thousands of vacant jobs in Virginia, the "4FOR4," program would provide four years of tuition-free education at a Virginia state college to qualified residents.

Modeled after the US Army's successful ROTC program, "4FOR4" would bolster the Commonwealth's growing demand for police, firefighters, utility, and at-home caregiving workers.

Under the program, successful graduates would be fast-tracked into skilled service jobs in Virginia for four years after graduation.

"4FOR4" is intended to give participating college students a head start on finding and securing their first jobs after graduation, relieve them of the heavy burden of student loans, and encourage longer-term employment in Virginia. "This is a creative way to strengthen the Virginia workforce while addressing graduating students' uncertainties. We owe it to our future workforce and to the state's businesses," Maddox said.

J.D. Maddox is running for state delegate on a centrist platform. Voting is underway now through November 2nd. Maddox, a 20 year resident of Alexandria, is a small business owner, an adjunct professor at George Mason University and an appointed member of Alexandria's IT Commission. Maddox served honorably as a CIA branch chief and US Army Special Operations soldier. More information is available at maddoxforvirginia.com.
