Alexandria, Virginia is Turning Red with Anger, Annetta Catchings could be the first African American Republican Mayor in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Annetta Catchings is vying to become the first ever African American female mayor of Alexandria, VA, and the first Republican mayor in any of our lifetimes. As with so many of our historic cities across the United States, Alexandria is faced with mounting challenges ? particularly with an aging infrastructure requiring intensive maintenance. Parts of the city are continuously flooding and under water every time there is a major storm. That has led to many of the residents in the city to become frustrated with both the current mayor as well as the status quo. In a city where the average home price is $700,000 with one of the highest residential taxes bases in the area, one would expect better support from the city.

"Our city is suffering from delayed infrastructure maintenance issues, our first responders are under-compensated with one of the highest turnover rates in the region, our high school ranks in the lower third in the USA, State and region, while local crime is on the rise," says Annetta Catchings, candidate for Mayor. "I am running for mayor of this great city to change its direction to become a citizen centric leader that focuses on results, not rhetoric. Our schools are failing the very people the current administration says they want to help. According to US News & World Report we rank 227th out of 319 schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia with a graduation rate well below the median for Virginia high schools." Catchings goes on to say, "My 4 Pillars of Performance is a benchmark focused on Safety, Infrastructure, Education and Representation. These four pillars represent the keys to our city's success moving forward with the focus on our citizens and being a citizen centric leader."
