The Mission Continues Announces Three New Members to Join Board of Directors


ST. LOUIS, Sept. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Mission Continues, a national nonprofit that deploys military veterans in continued service to their communities, is proud to announce the addition of three new board members: Rajiv Chandrasekaran, Fred Humphries, and Captain Anthony Martinez, U.S. Army (Ret.) have recently joined the organization's Board of Directors.

Rajiv Chandrasekaran, a former journalist and author, is currently the head of policy and strategy for the Emes Project LLC, a Seattle-based organization that incubates and supports innovative initiatives to create greater opportunity, accessible to all. A former senior correspondent and associate editor of The Washington Post, Chandrasekaran's global journalism career spans more than two decades. Among his best-selling authored book accomplishments are "For Love of Country: What Our Veterans Can Teach Us About Citizenship" and "Little America: The War Within the War for Afghanistan."

Fred Humphries is Corporate Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs for Microsoft Corporation. In this role, Humphries' leadership oversees policy, outreach, political engagement, and government affairs that helps advance the company's advocacy goals. With degrees from Temple University School of Law and Morehouse College, where he sits on the Board of Trustees, Humphries also proudly serves on many committees and boards, including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the USTR Trade Advisory Committee on Africa, and the Greater Washington Goodwill, among others.

Captain Anthony Martinez is a retired U.S. Army officer, and founder and president of the American Veterans Mission (AVM). Martinez, a 2004 West Point graduate, served in the military for 15 years, including multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2015, Martinez was medically retired due to injuries sustained in support of Operation Enduring Freedom while serving as Commanding Officer of 220 soldiers in a combat theater in Afghanistan. Martinez, who served as the platoon leader for The Mission Continues' Killeen (Texas) service platoon, is the first board member to represent the more than 2.500 alumni of The Mission Continues programs.

These three new board members join an elite and diverse Board of Directors that is comprised of industry leaders in national defense, finance, education, and more, all of whom are committed to the mission of empowering veteran-led impact in communities worldwide.
