New OnShift Research Explores The Personal And Professional Needs, Wants & Challenges Of Senior Care Frontline Staff

OnShift®, a leader in human capital management software for post-acute care and senior living, today announced the results of its inaugural Employee Perspectives Survey. More than 2,800 long-term care, senior living and healthcare employees shared insights into their daily lives, both personally and professionally. Across all cohorts, 49% of respondents reported feeling stressed and burned out as the most significant challenge they currently face, followed by staying healthy (40%) and day-to-day financial struggles/lack of savings (35%).

In response to their challenges, 39% of respondents cited being very satisfied or satisfied with the level of care and support provided to them by their employers, while 29% report being very dissatisfied or dissatisfied. Respondents also provided added insight into what would make their job more satisfying, with most focused on better pay, better staffing levels, increased communication, and appreciation from management.

"The number one challenge facing senior care providers is building and maintaining a consistent workforce. This research provides unique insight directly from frontline caregivers and hourly workers to help create greater workforce stability," stated Mark Woodka, CEO of OnShift. "With this data in hand, senior care providers can make more informed decisions about the initiatives and resources needed to attract, support and retain this hardworking, dedicated group both now and in the future."
