Milken Institute Future of Health Summit Opens Tomorrow, June 22

The Milken Institute Future of Health Summit kicks off tomorrow, drawing more than 1,000 leaders from government, academia, business, philanthropy, tech, and the private sector. Over the course of two days, conversations will examine lessons learned from the past year and how these can be applied to advance science, medical care, and public health for years to come.

Nearly 200 speakers will lend their expertise and insights, including Jose Manuel Barroso, Board Chair, Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance; Linda Goler Blount, President and CEO, Black Women's Health Imperative; Steve Cahillane, Chairman and CEO, Kellogg Company; Tom Colicchio, Chef and Owner, Crafted Hospitality; Heyward Donigan, CEO, Rite Aid; Anna Eshoo, US Representative, California; Garth Graham, Director and Global Head of Health Care, YouTube and Google Health; Karen Knudsen, CEO, American Cancer Society; Rachel Levine, Assistant Secretary for Health, US Department of Health and Human Services; Strive Masiyiwa, African Union Special Envoy to the African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team; Gina McCarthy, White House National Climate Advisor; Cathy McMorris Rodgers, US Representative, Washington; Lauren Miller Rogen, Screenwriter, Director, Producer, and Philanthropist; Adam Schecter, CEO, LabCorp; Tom Vilsack, Secretary, US Department of Agriculture; Rochelle Walensky, Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and George Yancopoulos, President and Chief Scientific Officer, Regeneron.

"To save both lives and livelihoods, competitors have become collaborators, pooling scientific research in response to COVID-19, which has led to multiple authorized vaccines, treatments, and best practices for managing care," said Michael Klowden, CEO of the Milken Institute. "We are pleased to bring together our collective network at this year's Future of Health Summit to discuss how we can apply these lessons to other disease states like Alzheimer's and cancer."

Additional topics will include distributing vaccines equitably, treating COVID-19 long-haulers, addressing mental health challenges in the workplace, better supporting underserved communities through social determinants of health, managing chronic disease, preventing the next pandemic, and more.

Insights into health care will also come from executives at AARP, Albertsons Companies, Alliance of Community Health Plans, Alzheimer's Association, AstraZeneca, Bank of America, BeiGene, CDC Foundation, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Chobani, Cigna, Exact Sciences, Home Instead, KPMG, Leidos, MedTronic, Pfizer, Rockefeller Foundation, and Unilever.

The Milken Institute will livestream the virtual Future of Health Summit. Watch nearly 40 sessions and review the agenda at www.futureofhealthsummit.org. The program will also include interactive elements such as mindful moments to help manage stress and workouts with professional trainers.
