"Challenging Corona: A conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci and panel discussion," hosted by The John Adams Institute in partnership with Wolters Kluwer, explores the COVID-19 pandemic and response. Dr. Fauci will speak with Dr. Damiaan Denys, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Amsterdam, on lessons learned in battling COVID-19, the ensuing public health crisis, and government responses in the US and Europe.

 

Following this discussion, the live streamed event will include a panel discussion featuring Dr. Denise Basow, President and CEO of Clinical Effectiveness at Wolters Kluwer, Health, and Dr. Marion Koopmans, virologist and advisor to the World Health Organization, moderated by Dr. Denys.

 

Key discussion topics will include lessons from the COVID-19 "infodemic" when helping doctors and nurses provide the best care, health equity, vaccines and the role of patients and providers in areas of healthcare forever altered due to the pandemic. The panel will also be open to questions from the audience.

Dr. Damiaan Denys, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Amsterdam, has published over 300 papers, 37 book chapters and 8 books. His research is focused on anxiety and compulsivity, and is characterized by a translational approach combining clinical psychiatry, philosophy and neuroscience.

 

Dr. Denise Basow, President and CEO of Clinical Effectiveness at Wolters Kluwer, Health, is board-certified in Internal Medicine, and has over 30 years of clinical and business experience. Her current focus is on targeting unwanted variability in healthcare and measurably improving clinical effectiveness with evidence-based insights.

 

Dr. Marion Koopmans, virologist and advisor to the World Health Organization, studies the global population level impact of rapidly spreading zoonotic virus infections. Dr. Koopmans received the infectious disease award of the Dutch Association for Infectious Diseases and is the recipient of the Stevin Premium 2018.
