Athletic Brewing Announces One of the Nation's Largest Trail Grants Ever as Part of Its Ongoing Two for the Trails Program

Athletic Brewing announced its first round of funding as part of its Two For the Trails 2021 grant program. The brewery will disperse $500,000 to trail-based non-profits across America between now and the end of June. The newly announced grants are part of Athletic Brewing's Two for the Trails program, which donates 2% of all revenue back to trail-based organizations.

"Part of our mission at Athletic Brewing is to support active and healthy lifestyles," says Bill Shufelt, Co-Founder of Athletic Brewing. "At the root of all healthy communities are vibrant recreational activities. Two for the Trails helps transform outdoor spaces in communities all across America encouraging mindfulness, physical activity, and spending time with friends and families."

Two For the Trails helps organizations cover funding gaps on projects that will provide a transformative impact on their community, and is open to all human-powered trail-based non-profits working on the construction of new trails, maintenance projects of popular trails, and trailhead improvement initiatives, including parking, bathrooms, shelters and other amenities to improve the overall community experience.

"We recognize that for many trail-based non-profits, the level of funding oftentimes doesn't keep up with the level of demand for their trails," says Shufelt. "Our hope is to help close that gap, and give organizations the funding they need to move projects from dream to shovels in the dirt."

In addition to funding, Athletic will provide grant recipients with a donation of nonalcoholic beer for trail days and events, as well as volunteering their time on as many projects as possible. Athletic encourages all employees to take one paid day off per quarter to volunteer with partner organizations.

As part of its commitment to supporting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity in the outdoors and craft beer spaces, Athletic Brewing will also be looking to fund projects that serve traditionally under-represented communities, and strongly encourages organizations working on those issues to apply.

The grant application is open, and organizations can apply until May 31st. The distribution of funds will take place during the month of June. A second round of funding will open in July. This initiative represents one of the largest business-funded trails grants ever, and symbolizes a milestone for Two For The Trails, a program that has been a part of Athletic Brewing Company since its foundation. To commemorate the launch of this program Athletic Brewing is debuting a limited-time variety pack. The case includes six-packs of All Out Stout, First Ride Coffee Porter, Chocolate Cherry Stout, and Maple Brown Ale.

The beers included in the mix pack showcase maple water from Drink Simple as a key ingredient. Maple is a traditional ingredient and flavor that signifies the arrival of spring and represents the changing of seasons. It's significant to the Two for the Trails program as it means that all outdoor adventurers will soon be able to get back outside to enjoy their favorite warm-weather activities and return to the trails they love.
