Several factors cause food spoilage, making items unsuitable for consumption. Light, oxygen, heat, humidity, temperature, and spoilage bacteria can all affect both safety and quality of perishable foods. When subject to these factors, foods will gradually decline.

Independent laboratory tests showed that there were no pathogenic organisms present in the samples. However, laboratory tests showed elevated numbers of yeast in the dill pickle relish ingredient.

The product was distributed between December 7, 2020 and January 18, 2021. The products are packaged in 9 oz. clear plastic bottles and sold to retail facilities in the following states: Alabama, Delaware, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.
