HELPING CAREGIVERS PASS THE BATON: Residential Assisted Living National Association Celebrates National Caregivers Day

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- RALNA ? The Residential Assisted Living National Association (RALNA) is helping caregivers across the country to carry the load of caring for the aging population. Often overlooked, but never forgotten, caregivers are the foundation of many families and communities.

The daily burden of caring for the elderly is not easy ? it's incredibly physical and emotionally burdensome. February 15, 2021 is National Caregivers Day and RALNA is celebrating individuals who provide quality care and helping loved ones pass the baton. An unforeseen burden escalated with the rise of COVID-19. Restrictions on movement, social distancing, and sanitation stipulations redefined what caregiving looks like.

RALNA continuously highlights resources to help caregivers provide quality services during challenging times at http://www.RALNA.org.

Caregiving became even more difficult with the rise of COVID-19 waging war on seniors ? the pandemic forced families into hiding. The toll of caring for an elderly loved one during the pandemic is immense, especially for loved ones with full-time jobs, spouses, children and other responsibilities.

Many caregivers are overwhelmed with:

1. Burnout: Total number of caregiving hours has dramatically increased.
2. Physical Health Issues: Declining health due to stress and increased time of caring.
3. Depression: Mental fatigue associated with managing the affairs of elderly loved ones.

A typical solution is transitioning seniors into assisted living, but big box nursing facilities can be expensive, with costs ranging from $6,000 to $10,000 a month. On the other hand, small residential assisted living homes offer a family-like setting for much less.

RALNA encourages overwhelmed caregivers to use these particular homes to pass the baton. Meanwhile, the organization continues to provide blogs and resources that aid caregivers with their daily responsibilities. Residential Assisted Living National Association is blending its voice with the nation to say "thank you" to caregivers across the country.
