Church Pension Group to Host Virtual Conversation on Investing in Economically Disadvantaged Communities

The Church Pension Group (CPG), a financial services organization that serves The Episcopal Church, announced that it will host a virtual conversation on investing in economically disadvantaged communities as part of its Insights & Ideas series of discussions on socially responsible investing (SRI). The event will take place on Thursday, January 14 from 12:15 to 1:30PM ET, and will feature a panel of experts on impact investing and diversity who will share ideas that have had an important impact on diverse communities while generating positive financial returns for investors.

Individuals interested in attending the event can register at cpg.org/Insights&Ideas. Mary Kate Wold, CEO and President of CPG, will facilitate the discussion.

"The prevalence of social injustice was one of the defining themes of 2020," said Ms. Wold. "Racial and economic disparities have deepened over the past several months, and many of us feel called to address it. We are excited to present an expert panel who will discuss investment strategies that advance socioeconomic equity, as well as what institutions are doing to enhance diversity in the investment industry. I encourage all Episcopalians who have an interest in learning more to join us on January 14."

The panelists will include: Daryl J. Carter, Founder, Chairman, and CEO, of Avanath Capital Management, LLC; Jasmine N. Richards, CFA, Head of Diverse Manager Research at Cambridge Associates; Christopher Rowe, CFA, Managing Director, Investments, Church Pension Group; and Bobby Turner, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Turner Impact Capital.

CPG also will host a conversation entitled Faithful Investing: Approaches to Linking Faith and Finances on February 18. Videos and presentations from prior Insights & Ideas events focused on positive impact investing, shareholder engagement, and sustainable investing can be found at cpg.org/Insights&Ideas.
