Star Refrigeration recognised with Investors in People Platinum accreditation

LONDON, Dec. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Star Refrigeration has been awarded Platinum and Gold accreditation against the Investors in People (IIP) and the Investors in Young People Standard respectively, capping a hugely successful year for the company. The framework, which recognise outstanding performance in leading, supporting and developing people, underline Star's dedication to upholding their core values, which include attracting the best talent in the industry, protecting the workforce and their families and retaining staff going forwards.

Investors in People is the international standard for people management and seeks to recognise organisations that encourage sustainability and best practices through the management and development of their people.

The accolades are awarded after assessing a company's practice in various areas based on feedback from employees across the business, sharing their experiences on leadership, recruitment, training, development, career progression, rewarding and retaining staff.

For over fifty years, Star have maintained a focus on such forward-thinking initiatives. These are reflected on their employee benefits, the various learning opportunities the company offer to develop staff competence, the reward and recognition of high performance, the increase transparency of opportunities for sharing ideas, feedback and lessons learned and the creation of the company's Communication and Continuous Improvement Team, which ensures employees across the organisation are involved in improvement activities to drive future success.

Commenting on the award, Nadia Rae, Star Refrigeration's Group HR Director said, "We have always recognised that our people are our biggest asset and as such place them at the heart of what we do. We have used the Investors in People frameworks to ensure a continued commitment to making Star a great place to work, focused on continuous improvement, shaped by the feedback and innovative ideas of our employees and providing long term security throughout rewarding and varied careers."

Star has held Investors in People accreditation since 2003, but this year marks its induction as a Platinum accredited company, a level achieved by only 3% of IIP accredited companies. Platinum accreditation is reserved for those companies that have demonstrated sustained exceptional commitment to managing their workforce, embedding the principles and practices around supporting people across the entire organisation with everyone playing their part in the company's success. Therefore the decision to upgrade Star's accreditation to Platinum in 2020 is recognition of the company's ongoing exemplary ethos and progress against the framework.

IIP Assessor, Nicola Dillon, commented on Star Refrigeration's success, "Over the years, I have seen a fantastic journey of continuous improvement to achieve a culture of empowerment, participation and collaboration at every level across the company. Congratulations on achieving IIP Platinum status."

As well as the outstanding achievement of Platinum status, Star have also retained Investors in Young People Gold accreditation. The Investors in Young People framework has only recently been amended to include the Platinum category, and so far no recipients of the new level have been awarded. Therefore, Star's retention of Gold accreditation remains the pinnacle of achievement within the framework, highlighting the company's commitment to nurturing talent, particularly when beginning their careers in the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP) industry.

Employee feedback shared through the IIP accreditation process showed the focus throughout the organisation on delivering the best results for customers, in line with the company vision and values. One employee said, "Doing the right thing rather than the easiest thing is embedded in our DNA. We focus on the values of the business....everything we do is for the benefit of the business, the staff, and the customer".

Another underlined how well Star have responded during the recent challenges brought on by coronavirus: "The concern for staff welfare during the current Covid crisis has been excellent... in difficult times, it makes you realise that Star is a company that really cares about its employees."
