Behavioral Health Associates of Broward Awarded $50,000 Parkland Cares Grant


PARKLAND, Fla., Nov. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Despite the pandemic, Parkland Cares is continuing to give back to those who help the greater Parkland Community, including Behavioral Health Associates of Broward, Counseling Centers of Goodman JFS, who received $50,000 from the organization.

This generous grant focuses on funding and awareness for mental health counseling for those survivors or family members of those involved in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. It also strives to support those who are helping the community at large. The Parkland Cares group has given over $575,000 in grants which has provided access to counseling to over 1,500 affected individuals.

This funding continues a commitment to provide access to counseling services to those students and families impacted by the tragic shooting at MSD and now the pandemic," said Randy Kominsky, JFS President and CEO of Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward County.

"We are proud of the work that we have done with MSD survivors and their families," said Jessica J. Ruiz, Chief Psychologist, Director. "This isn't something that goes away in a few months or years. People are just starting to recognize the long-lasting mental impact that tragic events have on their lives. As they continue to seek help, we will be there to help them." This grant from Parkland Cares will help them to continue making these services accessible to those who need support. To date, Behavioral Health Associates of Broward has received over $262,500 from Parkland Cares allowing those impacted by this tragedy to have access to trauma-informed therapy.
