Lalamove Announces On-Demand Delivery Service in Chicago to Help Local Businesses Thrive During COVID-19 with Support from the City and World Business Chicago

Lalamove, a leading on-demand and same-day delivery service provider, today announced its service is now available in Chicago. With 24/7 vehicle availability via its intuitive app, Lalamove helps local businesses expand their customer base, increase revenues and provide jobs in the local area.

Unlike other delivery options, Lalamove delivers everything from food to small packages to bulky furniture. It operates on a base-plus-miles pricing model with no commissions, which is in contrast with other delivery platforms that charge restaurants 15% to 30% commissions on the entire order. With Lalamove, the delivery charge for a $10 meal is the same as a $100 meal.

With base fares starting at $9.90, Lalamove offers the cheapest intra-city, same-day delivery services in Chicago. For example, a same-day delivery of a 5 lb. package from the Logan Square Farmers Market to the United Center is $14.30 via Lalamove, while another national shipping company charges $177.75.

Brick-and-mortar shops, such as independent bookstores, clothing boutiques and florists, can fulfill their local orders all at once with Lalamove's multi-stop delivery feature; and individuals can transport items they sell/purchase at online marketplaces or in store, from a couch to a 50-inch TV.

Lalamove is launching in the Windy City at a time when local restaurants are trying to stay afloat as outdoor dining becomes challenging this winter, and retailers are bracing themselves for an unusual holiday season affected by COVID-19.

"For local restaurants and SMBs, adding last-mile delivery service is critical to sustaining and scaling their business during the pandemic," said Blake Larson, international managing director at Lalamove. "We're excited to offer an affordable and reliable solution to Chicago's restaurants and SMBs, driving their holiday sales and achieving their business goals through on-demand delivery."

Differentiated from other logistics providers and shipping companies, Lalamove also offers real-time vehicle tracking, multi-stop booking, advance scheduling, adaptable pricing structures, cashless payment with the Lalamove e-wallet and a driver rating system ? all at the touch of a button on the Lalamove app.

Creating Local Opportunities to Fuel the Economy

As Lalamove expands its local operational team to provide more job opportunities and localized services for the Greater Chicago Area, the company is also reaching local communities with the support from World Business Chicago (WBC).

"We are thrilled to welcome Lalamove to Chicago," said Andrea Zopp, President & CEO, World Business Chicago. "Chicago continues to be a leading choice for companies across the world to expand and invest in ? thanks to our diverse talent and workforce, our commitment to innovation and technology, and the city's strengths that help companies to grow and thrive. We look forward to partnering with Lalamove to ensure more Chicagoans can benefit from jobs created and help them become a strong partner in the last-mile delivery space for Chicago businesses."

In addition, the company plans to onboard more than 3,000 delivery partners by the end of the year, offering a flexible schedule, local support and easy payment options. To date, more than 500 Chicago residents who met the verification requirements have joined the platform as delivery partners.

Lalamove's delivery fleet in Chicago currently includes sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks and cargo vans. All delivery partners are carefully trained on safety, customer service and COVID-19 health protocols.
