CyVision Technologies, Inc. Adds Security Veteran Brian Harrell To Board of Advisors

BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CyVision Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of cyber vulnerability assessments, has named the Honorable Brian M. Harrell to its Board of Advisors. In his advisory role, Harrell will offer strategic and tactical guidance in navigating critical cybersecurity issues facing the public sector organizations, institutions and private sector businesses. Harrell joins Paul Goldenberg, chairman and president of Cardinal Point Strategies and Jack Donohue, a Cardinal Point senior advisor on the CyVision Board of Advisors.

"We continue to strengthen our organization with the addition of industry experts who can provide strategic advice and counsel," said Steve Crummey, chairman of CyVision Technologies, Inc. "Brian's extensive understanding of the cybersecurity and public safety needs across the private, public and government sectors will help us ensure that our services and supporting technologies keep pace with the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape."

In 2018, Harrell was appointed by President Donald Trump to serve as the sixth Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection at the Department of Homeland Security. Brian also served as the first Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

Harrell currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Security Officer (CSO) at AVANGRID, an energy company with assets and operations in 24 states. Harrell has also served in leadership roles at Duke Energy and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). Harrell has spent time during his career in the U.S. Marine Corps and various private sector agencies with the goal of protecting the United States from security threats. "The service and technology offered by CyVision is very impressive. For that reason, CyVision should be considered a foundational security service for any organization looking to protect itself from cyber risk," Harrell said. "I am excited to help to provide guidance on product evolution and market opportunities."

The dramatic increase in remote network access in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic ? by employees, constituents, and consumers alike ? has put every organization with an accessible network at significant risk of cyberattack. Cyberattacks are no longer a random act, but a targeted attack based on reconnaissance to determine weaknesses.
