Local Businesses Holding Relief Drive For Lake Charles Hurricane Survivors

LAKE CHARLES, La., Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lake Charles community has been ravaged by hurricanes this year! That, coupled with a worldwide pandemic, has left us battered and shell shocked, but we WILL prevail. In response, Centex Studies and several other businesses in the local community will be hosting a Hurricane Relief Drive for all those affected by Laura and Delta this year.

"We are so honored to be able to do something for the Lake Charles community," said CEO of Centex Studies, Devora Torren

"It's so hard to see our community in ruins and so many people displaced," said Centex Studies-Lake Charles Site Director Amber Victor. "Luckily, we're in a position to help, and that's exactly what we're doing this weekend!"

Centex Studies will personally be handing out hot food plates, face masks, and hand sanitizers. They will also be offering FREE health checks such as COVID testing, blood-glucose tests, non-invasive liver scans, and more. They are even doing a drawing at the end of the event for a $500 gift card give-a-way to a home improvement store. Other businesses, such as the New Life Counseling and Pregnancy Services, will be in attendance and will distribute baby supplies.

In accordance with local health ordinances, the event will be a drive-thru style around the Centex Studies parking lot at 765 Bayou Pines E. Lake Charles, LA 70601. People will drive around the building while the volunteers fill their cars with the supplies. Those who wish to take advantage of the free health checks may park and go into the Centex facility for privacy and safety. The gift card give-a-way drawing will be done 15 minutes before the end of the event.

"We are so honored to be able to do something for the Lake Charles community," said CEO of Centex Studies, Devora Torrence. "Our hearts go out to all the people, and we really hope our small gesture can make a difference for at least one person affected by this tragedy."

Any businesses or individuals who wish to donate or participate in the relief drive can contact Machelle Stephens at 210-517-3385 for details on how to get involved.
