Nonprofit WeXL.org Produces New Show American Wellness with Miss Wisconsin USA Gabriella Deyi Addressing Mental Health among BIPOC's, Women, and Vulnerable Populations

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- WeXL Org, a non-profit that champions diverse people from untapped communities by elevating their stories and providing key tools to succeed, will launch the video series, American Wellness with Miss Wisconsin USA 2020 Gabriella Deyi, on Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time on the WeXL Org YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/WeXLorg). Funding for the series comes from #Creators4BIPOC, a new initiative by Streamlabs, a Logitech company.

American Wellness ? produced at the WeXL Media Lab, which the Streamlabs grant helped establish ? features WeXL Creator Gabriella Deyi, whose recent journalism fellowship at the University of Wisconsin included on-air reporting for WKOW-ABC 27. Deyi, the current Miss Wisconsin USA, uses her platform to raise awareness of mental health issues ? including those that afflict her mother and brother ? as she prepares for the Miss USA Pageant on Nov. 9. A first-generation American born to immigrants from Liberia and Dominican Republic, Deyi embodies WeXL's mission and that of #Creators4BIPOC.

People can vote Deyi into the Top 16 as their favorite 2020 Miss USA delegate on the Choicely app (https://bit.ly/miss_WI_gabby).

"I am excited to launch American Wellness," she said. "This could not be more timely, as we see spikes in mental health issues as a byproduct of the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic duress, plus our nation's political uncertainty and racial conflict. These circumstances weigh heavily on BIPOC communities, which are in disproportionate risk of contracting COVID-19, as they continue to suffer from the chronic stress of financial strain, lack of access to healthcare, and other socio-economic fallouts of systemic racism."

"We are grateful to receive such support to do this important work," said WeXL founder and CEO Arabella DeLucco. "The #Creators4BIPOC grant from Streamlabs enables WeXL to champion and aid talented creators, such as Gabriella. At WeXL, storytelling is one of our main values and mission drives. By producing original programs like American Wellness, we better understand complicated issues impacting diverse communities (such as mental health) while connecting them to resources and solutions. We believe when we work together, we can create a more equitable world for all."

"Streamlabs has committed a minimum of $1 million over the next ten years to address racial inequality," said Streamlabs' Chelsea Simms, who leads an entrepreneurial team building products for digital creators that empowers them to share their passion and make an impact. "We are drawn to WeXL because of their team's focus on storytelling and creators. WeXL's empowerment of Gabriella and others from diverse communities who raise their voices to speak for equity is synonymous with what Streamlabs does in terms of empowering live-streaming creators. Both of our organizations recognize that storytelling is an incredibly special part of creating impact."
