FleetPal Announces Partnership with Spireon, Launches Mile-Based Asset Maintenance Solution

SECAUCUS, N.J., Oct. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Preventive truck maintenance startup FleetPal has announced its integration with fleet intelligence company Spireon, providing users with better visibility into their truck and trailer maintenance based on the miles traveled. FleetPal users can now leverage Spireon's technology to set schedules based on the individual miles clocked by their trucks and trailers, helping avoid over-maintenance of assets.

Today, fleets use hubometers to measure approximate trailer mileage. Hubometers are devices mounted on the axle of the truck to measure the distance traveled. Though this sounds like a dependable way to measure distance, hubometers are unreliable as they are prone to falling off or providing inaccurate data. Measurements will have to be recorded manually, which can lead to human errors.

This apart, a large percentage of fleets schedule pre-planned maintenance visits, decided based on the number of days the equipment gets utilized. Aside from being a highly inefficient process, this also causes equipment over-maintenance in several cases.

With Spireon, FleetPal inches closer to being available across all market telematics systems, having already partnered with industry leaders Samsara, KeepTruckin, Geotab, and Eroad. Though open for fleets of all sizes, Fleetpal's target audience are mid-sized businesses that run anywhere between 30 to 250 trucks in their fleet.

"The Spireon integration is in line with FleetPal's vision to bring technology-assisted solutions to small businesses at affordable prices. Our fleets can now accurately calculate miles clocked by trailers, rather than roughly projecting the distance with hubometers. Users can now have mile-based schedules for their trailers, preventing fleets with multiple drop trailer locations from over-maintaining their trailers," said Mike Valnev, the CEO and co-founder of FleetPal.

Based on trailer mileage, fleets can schedule mile-based preventive maintenance inspections to spot inefficiencies before equipment breakdown. That aside, fleets can also track lifecycles for other equipment parts like tires, with the possibility to individually measure mileage on trailer tires.

FleetPal leverages equipment mileage data to provide fleets with trailer cost per mile, while enabling asset management via mile-based equipment segmentations and reports. The company's platform is built on the Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS) system, a universal coding standard that tracks equipment failure and operating costs.

"VMRS helps fleets set up their maintenance plans correctly, while also giving the fleets a structured coding system for their expenses. This allows FleetPal to turn the collected data into powerful intel," said Valnev. "Integrating with other systems is easier with VMRS, as they speak the same language. This allows benchmarking and is a good set-up for AI-powered predictive maintenance."
