OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 22, 2020 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will deliver the Speech from the Throne to formally open the second session of the 43rd Parliament of Canada. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 2:10 p.m., at the Senate of Canada Building.

One of the governor general's most important constitutional duties is to ensure that Canada always has a prime minister and a government in place that has the confidence of Parliament.
