Facedrive's TraceSCAN Receives International Media Coverage for COVID-19 Containment Efforts at LiUNA Sites

Facedrive Inc. ("Facedrive") (TSXV: FD), a Canadian "people-and-planet-first" tech ecosystem, is pleased to announce that its contact tracing solution TraceSCAN (http://www.tracescan.ca/) has received media coverage in connection with its pandemic containment efforts at labour sites in Ontario, and the innovative use of wearable technologies in settings where the use of mobile phones is not permitted. The article (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-ontarios-construction-industry-pushes-for-wearable-covid-19-tracing/) published in The Globe and Mail on August 4 provides the Labourers' International Union of North America's (LiUNA's) perspective on their rationale behind the use of contact tracing technologies, and benefits of the TraceSCAN wearable products in particular.

Joseph Mancinelli, International Vice President of LiUNA that represents 130,000 construction workers across Canada with 95,000 of them in Ontario, maintained in the article that without a wearable app that can determine who workers have been in close contact with, sites may be shut down as soon as one case is reported.

Further, Joseph Mancinelli explained that due to the nature of their business, workers are often unable to carry smartphones at their workplace for safety reasons, which is why the use of federal government's new COVID-19 tracking app would be severely limited. Instead, he was urging the government to adopt a made-in-Ontario TraceSCAN app that includes wearables, which feature technology that can be worn as a bracelet or carried in a wallet.

"Cellphones have been basically outlawed in the construction industry," said Mancinelli. "You are going to omit all of these construction workers ? not only LiUNA ? but the whole industry, which is hundreds and hundreds of thousands of workers right across the country. So I don't get that."

The article further quoted Suman Pushparajah, the Chief Operations Officer of Facedrive and leader of the TraceSCAN pilot project, saying that adapting to different work sites is key to successful contact tracing as more Canadians return to work. "There is a huge gap, but that is why we focused heavily on the wearable technology as well," said Pushparajah.

Furthermore, a comment from Ontario Premier Doug Ford was included stating that he had recently spoken to LiUNA about using the TraceSCAN app. "They want to bring it on construction sites, so you know I'm in favour of that, and that's going to be strictly up to the federal government to decide if they're going to allow them to do that or not," he said.

LiUNA has recently confirmed its plans to participate in a pilot project with Facedrive's TraceSCAN at one of its sites in Ottawa. If proved successful, it may subsequently lead to the mass rollout of the TraceSCAN wearable technology at the rest of LiUNA's sites.
