NEW YORK, July 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dexur's analysis of medicare claims of hospitals within a 50-mile radius of Batesville, Arkansas, showed that Stone County Medical Center, White River Medical Center, and Advanced Care Hospital had the best value outcomes over a 90-day episode for Hip & Knee Replacement. Dexur's value analysis tracks a patient's episode of care from the date of admission for 90 days and includes the index hospitalizations, rehospitalization, home health, nursing home, and ED costs. The total cost of care data helps patients make appropriate choices and helps local ACOs such as White River Health System Clinically Integrated Network, LLC make appropriate referrals choices. The analysis was risk-adjusted, for alive and non-hospice patients and was done at the DRG level, specifically DRG 470: Major Joint Replacement or Reattachment of Lower Extremity without Major Complication or Comorbidity (MCC), to adjust for complications and comorbidities.

Stone County Medical Center's total cost of care over a 90-day episode was $9,902 (for the period of July 2016 to June 2019). The index hospitalization cost was $5,173 and the average rehospitalization cost was $870. The cost per rehospitalization was at an average of $9,463. Meanwhile, the average ED costs per hospitalization (when ED is involved) was $488.

White River Medical Center's total cost of care over a 90-day episode was $16,116 (for the period between July 2016 to June 2019). The index hospitalization cost was $11,598 and the average rehospitalization cost was $2,486. The cost per rehospitalization was at an average of $16,723. Meanwhile, the average ED costs per hospitalization (when ED is involved) was $784.

Advanced Care Hospital's total cost of care over a 90-day episode was $20,981 (for the period of July 2016 to June 2019). The index hospitalization cost was $12,522 and the average rehospitalization cost was $3,749. The cost per rehospitalization was at an average of $16,481. Meanwhile, the average ED costs per hospitalization (when ED is involved) was $875.
