LA County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk Uses Cherwell Technology to Advance Voting Solutions for All People

Cherwell Software, a leader in IT service management, today announced that Los Angeles County, the largest and most complex voting jurisdiction in the United States, has implemented Cherwell® Service Management as part of the Voting Solutions for All People (VSAP) initiative. The Cherwell solution allowed LA County to shift to a more modern, digital-based chain of custody process to support the thousands of new devices added as part of the VSAP initiative, and to streamline incident management across the 1,000 voting centers. This new system helped provide expanded accessibility and voting options for over 5.5 million registered voters, while also improving oversight and administration.

"In order to expand access for the millions of people in our voting jurisdiction in time for the 2020 elections, we needed to improve our chain of custody capabilities, and we needed to implement it within a compressed timeline. After exploring several options, we determined that Cherwell's software would allow us to quickly create custom workflows for deploying and tracking all of our assets, improving voter access and convenience, and enabling more efficient oversight," said LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's Chief Information Officer Aman Bhular.

The expanded LA County voting system encompasses tens of thousands of devices and equipment that need to be packed, transported, set up and supported across 11 voting days in nearly 1,000 locations. These devices are critical in providing a fully accessible, multilingual modern and secure voting experience to voters from all walks of life.
