South Park Brass Completes Its Purchase of FlameFighter

SAINT PAUL, Minn., July 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- South Park Corporation, a manufacturer of quality firetruck parts and supplies serving dealers, firefighting apparatus manufacturers and municipal fire departments, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of FlameFighter Corporation. Combined, the companies have more than 120 years of industry experience and will serve customers on three continents. Though now under common ownership, the companies will continue operating under their separate brand names.

"The consolidation of these two well-respected legacy companies will benefit our individual and shared customers alike, creating economies of scale and cost savings in the process," said Erick Schmidt, president of South Park Brass. "The entire fire, rescue and emergency services industry will enjoy increased product selection, enhanced product integration and expanded product sourcing capabilities."

Established in 1932 as South Park Hydrant and Pump Company, its founders manufactured fire hydrants and firetruck hardware products. In the mid 1970s, the company ceased building fire hydrants, changed its name to South Park Corporation (known in the industry as South Park Brass) and began focusing on a diverse firetruck hardware product line. Today, the company supplies customers in the United States, Canada and Europe with a diverse array of bells, adapters, truck hardware, elbows, caps, plugs, valves and other miscellaneous products.

In 1987, FlameFighter entered the firefighting supply market with an innovative "piercing nozzle" capable of delivering an extinguishing stream of water to dangerous concealed spaces, such as attics, basements, vents and voids. Since its inception, the company has significantly grown its piercing nozzle line and has expanded into six product categories distributed by more than 400 fire equipment dealers, safety supply distributors and wholesale suppliers throughout North America, South America and Europe.

"Uniting South Park Brass with FlameFighter offers dealers, distributors and supply-chain customers of both companies a tremendous opportunity for expansion and growth," Steven Peterson, president of FlameFighter Corporation, said. "I personally want to thank our channel partners for their more than 30 years of effort and support in helping us build our business, and I invite them to join me in celebrating the passing of the torch to Erick and his team."

One overarching advantage of the consolidation will be the convenience of a one-stop shop that enables customers to access a wider array of products through a single source. Product compatibility across all lines is another customer benefit that will be a byproduct of the two companies coming together.

"As an example, axes from FlameFighter will be compatible with axe straps and axe handle storage brackets from South Park," said Schmidt. "We're really stepping up to another level in terms of product diversity and availability for all our customers."

Schmidt indicated that he plans to keep things simple and convenient for customers moving forward. Part numbers will remain the same, and each company's website will be accessible from the other. Schmidt also noted that he has his team looking into ways to include products ordered from both companies on a single PO.

"As we collectively embark on this new chapter in our long and proud history, we will continue to adhere to South Park's founding principles," said Schmidt. "Our team members will remain dedicated to the highest quality in materials and craftsmanship and to dependable and prompt service to our customers."
