Fastaff Travel Nursing Takes Leading Healthcare Role as Professional Sports Prepare for Safe Reopenings

Fastaff Travel Nursing was on the ground at eight professional sporting events across the country this June, providing onsite healthcare including temperature checks in a joint effort to reopen sports safely. The nurses are part of a team gathered by S2 Global, a logistics leader in security and safety for large-scale events.

As America tentatively reopens in small and large gatherings, with the risk of reinfection still prevalent, sports can set the standard for how groups of people can gather, work together, play together and return to normal activities by following protocols and procedures that limit the spread of the contagion.

Although no spectators were admitted at these recent events, a large outdoor sporting event can still have between 700 ? 1,000 participants including players, staff and media, especially for a live broadcast event. While social distancing is encouraged, providing the temperature screening at each entry point each day provides a new level of security to the participants that protocols are in place to minimize the spread of COVID-19 or other infectious diseases.

Using infrared thermal camera technology for mass screening, S2 Global quickly screens players and service personnel before entering the competition venue to reduce the risk of an infected person entering the environment. If an elevated body temperature is detected, a secondary screening takes place with Fastaff nurses using hand-held thermometers that don't need to touch the skin verify the person's exact temperature. If an elevated body temperature is detected that is above the CDC guidelines a digital report is generated using CertScan, S2 Global's secure integration platform. This allows the onsite team to protect important personal information, track the data and ultimately work with the organization and attendee after entry is denied.

"Working with S2 Global to keep athletes and staff safe at professional sporting events has been an honor and a great extension of our critical service offering," said company CEO Bart Valdez. "Fastaff is the nation's leading supplier of rapid response nurses to crisis situations, and we have been sending thousands of nurses to ER and ICU assignments nationwide to care for COVID patients for the last four months. We are now glad to be a part of the solution as our country seeks out safe ways to reopen and get to a ?new normal'."
