HiveMQ Cloud Launches Integration with Confluent Cloud to Provide Seamless IoT Device Data Streaming

SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- HiveMQ, developers of the popular enterprise MQTT platform, today announced the integration of the HiveMQ Cloud for MQTT messaging with Confluent Cloud, the industry's only fully managed, cloud native event streaming platform powered by Apache Kafka®, service to provide an IoT end-to-end data pipeline.

HiveMQ Cloud is a cloud-native IoT messaging service that enables bi-directional communication between IoT cloud applications and IoT devices. Based on the industry standard MQTT protocol, HiveMQ allows IoT devices to stream telemetry data to the cloud and IoT cloud applications to send notifications to IoT devices. The HiveMQ Cloud integration with Confluent Cloud allows HiveMQ Cloud to stream data from millions of IoT devices to Kafka clusters.

"Enterprises have told us they want to benefit from the native implementation of both MQTT and Kafka protocols to operate clusters that support millions of devices, like connected cars, with high throughput," said Dominik Obermaier, CTO and co-founder of HiveMQ. "With the launch of HiveMQ Cloud integration with Confluent Cloud, DevOps and IT teams get a solution that simplifies Kafka for IoT by seamlessly integrating MQTT messages into the Kafka messaging flow."

Additional benefits of HiveMQ Cloud for Confluent Cloud include:

"Event streaming has set a new standard for how powerful event data can be when organizations can access it in real time as it flows through the heart of a business," said Simon Hayes, VP, Business Development, Confluent. "However, for many organizations it's too time consuming and prohibitively expensive to create connections to all the disparate parts of their data architecture. Through this new integration of HiveMQ Cloud and Confluent Cloud we are making it simple for customers with IoT device data to stream, process and manage that data in Confluent Cloud at massive scale."

HiveMQ Cloud integration with Confluent Cloud supports all MQTT 3 and MQTT 5 features, including all QoS levels; and buffers messages at the broker to ensure high-availability and failure tolerance if a Kafka cluster is unavailable. HiveMQ Cloud runs on AWS. Support for Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud will be added soon.

About HiveMQ Cloud

HiveMQ Cloud shields companies from the complexity of deploying and managing MQTT brokers. HiveMQ Cloud includes automatic scaling that can accommodate spikes in device activity. The advanced clustering architecture ensures a high degree of availability to guarantee that message retention and user experiences avoid interruption due to intermittent network connectivity. The fully managed platform is immediately deployed as three different cluster nodes in three different data centers. Enterprise grade security is set by default to require communication through TLS as well as device authentication and authorization. HiveMQ Cloud is designed to run production IoT applications with no installation, setup, or configuration.

About HiveMQ
HiveMQ helps companies connect devices to the Internet. We make it possible to move data from device to cloud in a secure, reliable, and scalable manner. Over 130 customers, including many Fortune 500 companies, rely on our product in production for mission-critical use cases like connected cars, logistics, Industry 4.0, and connected IoT products.
