Rémy Martin Sustains Its Dedicated Commitment To Protecting The Environment

NEW YORK, June 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The House of Rémy Martin has been committed to integrated agriculture for over 15 years and its desire to move towards environmental excellence continues to be a top priority today. The latest engagement is rooted in a wider environmental approach, with a simple ambition embedded within the brand's DNA: to protect the environment with each and every action it undertakes.

The Maison has chosen to discontinue gift boxes on certain products in the on-trade and off-trade network in a vast number of countries. Rémy Martin aims to be part of an all-round sustainable approach by teaming up to preserve terroirs, soils, and biodiversity.

Having gradually removed VSOP gift boxes in some countries, Rémy Martin has now gone a step further to lower its environmental impact by applying this initiative to other bottles in the range including 1738, Club and XO in the on-trade.

The House also embraces sustainable consumption and production practices, such as developing an eco-design rating process, applied to every product, based on four product lifecycle criteria: CO2, resource exhaustion, water resource exhaustion and water ecotoxicity.

By doing so, Rémy Martin wishes to reduce its carbon footprint and focus on what the House deeply values: its eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne.

"We are convinced that our fight ensures sustainable protection of the soil, the environment and our savoir-faire: it is ambitious, collective and respectful of the Charente region. We will continue to foster excellence and pass on our heritage, striving towards new challenges by taking action from the soil to the bottle," said Philippe Farnier, CEO of the House of Rémy Martin.

ABOUT RÉMY MARTIN

Established in 1724, Rémy Martin is the specialist in Fine Champagne Cognac. Distilled from grapes from the prestigious terroirs of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, its cognacs have the potential to age remarkably well. For almost three centuries, and through generations, Rémy Martin has had one ambition: unveiling the gifts of nature and skills of man in the quest to capture the very essence of cognac.

RÉMY MARTIN, ENVIRONMENT COMMITMENTS

This commitment also aims to promote sustained and inclusive economic growth: all Rémy Martin cognacs are produced on a site that includes laboratories, a packaging complex, offices, visitors and reception centre as well as ageing and fermentation cellars with barrels made from oak sourced in the Limousin region.

RÉMY MARTIN TEAMS UP WITH ITS 800 PARTNERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE

In 1966, the House established a long-term partnership with winegrowers involved in the Alliance Fine Champagne (AFC). This win-win partnership unites Rémy Martin with its partners through excellence: behind individual success, lies a collective history.

The House and its partners made firm commitments to reduce their environmental footprint, minimizing the use of phytosanitary products, promoting biodiversity and making better use of natural resources. They share the same goal: by 2022, 50% of cultivated winegrowing areas will be HVE certified.

Behind their president, the 800 winegrowers of Alliance Fine Champagne ensure the sustainability of the world's largest Cognac Fine Champagne reserve. Day after day, they deliver to Rémy Martin their finest Grande and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie made with respect to their land and commitment to High Environmental Value certification. Behind the success of a brand, a collective story.
