Dr. Yves Jean-Bart Issues Statement in Response to FIFA Provisional Suspension

CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS, Haiti, May 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. Yves Jean-Bart, President of the Haitian Football Federation, today issued the following statement through his spokesperson:

"While Dr. Jean-Bart continues to unequivocally deny the baseless allegations against him, he will comply with FIFA's provisional suspension ? which is a standard practice of the ethics committee ? and expects full exoneration and reinstatement once the investigation concludes.

"Fully transparent from the start, the Federation and its President were actually the first to issue requests for inquiries by the Haitian judicial system, as well as the respected human rights group Réseau National de Défense des Droits Humains (RNDDH), in order to prove that the despicable, politically motivated allegations against him have no truth.

"In addition, the Federation previously asked FIFA to send experts from the FIFA Guardians/ Child Safeguarding Programme to verify the conditions at our national youth training facility and to do its own investigations."

Meanwhile, Dr. Yves Jean-Bart, President of the Haitian Football Federation, filed a public defamation lawsuit against blogger Romain Molina, who has published anonymous accusations against the President without presenting any evidence (officially submitted and delivered to the Paris Press Law Civil Court on May 18, 2020- case PPCLC- 27-423087). The defamation lawsuit was filed in the Court of Paris under the Law of Press of 1881, which defines "defamation" as "any allegation or imputation of a fact which harms the honor or consideration of the person or group to which the fact is imputed."

Such allegations have never been lodged in the 20 years Dr. Jean-Bart has served as President of the Federation, nor in the 8 years since the Académie Camp Nous was established.

Dr. Jean-Bart has been a prominent doctor and well-respected journalist. His hard-hitting reporting in the past made it necessary for him to go into exile four different times. He is currently the CEO of the privately-owned Radio Galaxie, which is highly respected for its independence.

Dr. Jean-Bart has been honored to serve as President of the Haitian Football Federation for the past two decades and was just re-elected to his sixth term. Despite numerous challenges and a lack of financial resources, Dr. Jean-Bart with his colleagues of the Haitian Football Federation led the development and success of a youth training program that has empowered Haiti's girls and boys to compete at the highest levels of world football competition.
