City of Brunswick Mayor Pro Tempore John Dayton states, "There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the current small business climate due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we're trying to support our local businesses any way we're able to."

The micro-grant program for small businesses was created in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and is aimed to financially assist small businesses in paying their mortgage, rent, utilities and other regular overhead costs during the state-wide "Stay at Home" ordered by Governor Hogan. Though some restaurants and other essential businesses have remained open (within strict regulations), many businesses are still facing significant financial difficulties due to the sharp decrease in patronage.

Councilman Nathan Brown adds, "Between getting takeout from one of our restaurants to ordering products online, this community is working to support our small businesses. We're hoping this micro-grant shows our businesses that we're here, we're available, and we want to assist you."

The micro-grant is still accepting applications at this time. For more information about the grant and how to apply, visit: https://brunswickmd.gov/index.asp?SEC=1E8D2CA7-12FA-481D-BCDD-AD5BCEC74C0D&Type=B_BASIC. Any additional questions may be directed to [email protected].
