Mediators Help San Diego's Divorced Families and Small Business Owners During COVID-19 Without Charge

SAN DIEGO, April 24, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Around the world, divorced and divorcing parents are finding themselves stuck. Courts are closed as their families are dealing with new pressures, such as agreeing on safety measures for children, managing custody schedules thrown into chaos and adjusting support payments impacted by loss of work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Carmel Valley's Pacific Coast Mediation, Inc. (PCM) offering advice and conflict facilitation is helping families and businesses without charge via video conferencing with an interdisciplinary mediation team composed of lawyers, therapists, and financial experts.

During the pandemic, any family or business can have one (1) hour to meet with a PCM mediation team via remote videoconference format to explore options and conduct negotiations to handle problems that are impacting their lives.

"Our experienced and talented panel of mediators are volunteering their time to help parents, children, and struggling small business owners," said Kevin Kellar, Staff Director of PCM. "Our mediators are steadfast in their commitment to helping people go through the life-changing experience of divorce and financial challenges during this current pandemic."

"The global mediation community has a history of being adaptive in terms of how we serve our clients in a team based interdisciplinary triage," said Forrest S. Mosten, a senior mediator at PCM who teaches mediation at UCLA School of Law.

"Online consultations and dispute resolution is very accessible and effective," said Susan Guthrie, a long term PCM mediator who specializes in on-line service delivery and is an ABA leader.

"Now, more than ever, families and businesses need help in budgeting and exploring new revenue sources," said PCM Mediator Jenny Erdman who is also a certified financial planner.

"This health crisis has caused individuals and families to fray from the pressure and lack of resources?having a helpful interdisciplinary listening team to help solve problems can be so important," said Angela Phillips, licensed therapist and PCM mediator.
