Amica Senior Lifestyles launches #smilesforseniors to combat feelings of isolation

Amica launches engagement platform to provide support for seniors in the community during physical distancing

TORONTO, April 23, 2020 /CNW/ - Amica Senior Lifestyles has announced the launch of its #smilesforseniors campaign, which through a collective website, showcases artwork, videos and photography created by Canadians to help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation for seniors everywhere.

With seniors being more vulnerable to COVID-19 than any other population, the #smilesforseniors campaign aims to engage Canadians through weekly social media challenges to create uplifting content and encourage connectedness.

"Amica Senior Lifestyle's mission is to enrich the lives of seniors across Canada, providing them with a high-standard of care where they feel connected, supported and valued," says Doug MacLatchy, CEO of Amica Senior Lifestyles. "We believe providing connections to seniors and the community during this time of isolation to be more important than ever."

The collection of artwork, video and photography is posted at smilesforseniors.ca, a new platform dedicated to sharing visual thoughts of positivity and support for seniors. Participants can contribute by using the campaign hashtag #smilesforseniors and tagging @amicaseniorlifestyles across social media platforms or emailing [email protected].

"It is our on-going commitment and pleasure to create moments of happiness and positivity for our residents," says Ashley Sumler, Manager Life Enrichment at Amica. "Socialization and feeling connected to others are vital to seniors' well-being, especially now during a time of physical distancing."
