Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims

WASHINGTON, April 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims was 6.6 million last week. This brings the total to 16.5 million initial filings over the last three weeks.

"We are in a true economic emergency, losing 34,000 jobs every hour over the past three weeks. The $349 billion Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), launched just six days ago, is a lifeline for small businesses, but we need a lot more immediately.  The Trump Administration and Mitch McConnell recognize this, but Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are playing politics at the worst possible time. They delayed the CARES Act by a week to push a left-wing agenda. That cannot happen again. We need Congress to approve another round of PPP funding today. No delays, no excuses."
