Fairtrade America Partners With Six Certified Brands To Honor The Moms Going Above And Beyond This Year

WASHINGTON, April 8, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Fairtrade America is the U.S. member organization of Fairtrade International, an independent, third party certification that betters the lives of farmers and workers in developing countries. Today, the U.S. organization announced it has partnered with six Fairtrade certified brands to honor the moms who have gone above and beyond in the past couple of months, balancing their own stress and anxiety with the need to continue working, become teachers to their children and keep their families safe. More so than ever, moms (and all parents) deserve to be recognized this year as the unsung heroes keeping it together for their families. This Mother's Day, Fairtrade America and Lily's Sweets, Organic India, Ethical Bean Coffee, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, Love Crunch and Looma Home, all Fairtrade certified brands, will honor moms with a Meaningful Mother's Day giveaway through which three lucky winners will win a prize package of Fairtrade certified goods.

Fairtrade America upholds the most rigorous standards for ethical certification to ensure a tangible, positive impact on the livelihood of small-scale farmers and their communities in developing countries. Specifically, Fairtrade certification means farmers and workers are paid at least the Fairtrade Minimum Price ? a safety net that ensures farmers are paid a higher price when the global market prices drop ? and received Fairtrade Premium, which spreads the benefits of Fairtrade into the community. Today, Fairtrade positively impacts almost 2 million farmers and workers in over 75 countries.

"We're so grateful for the opportunity to honor moms this year with the help of our Fairtrade certified brand partners," said Mary Linnell-Simmons, Fairtrade America's director of marketing and a mom of two. "During these tough and stressful times, we hope we can help moms - and all parents, really - feel appreciated and recognized as our unsung heroes."
