Financial assistance for seniors' residences: Selection Group applauds the decision made by the Quebec government

LAVAL, QC, March 30, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Selection Group welcomes the decision made by the Quebec government to allocate $40 million to support the actions of retirement complexes during the COVID-19 crisis, detailed this morning by the Minister responsible for Seniors and Informal Caregivers, Marguerite Blais, and announced yesterday afternoon by Quebec's Prime Minister, François Legault.

The COVID-19 crisis requires significant expenditures for companies that manage retirement complexes, including overtime for staff, orders for specialized equipment, increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection, and the addition of security, during this exceptional period.

Rightly so, the government strongly reminds us of the importance of protecting seniors from COVID-19. This government assistance is welcome to pursue this mission. Complex managers care about the health of seniors and are fully aware of their vulnerability in regard to COVID-19. In keeping with the protective measures we currently have in place, our residences are the safest place for seniors.

This is a reassuring announcement, that illustrates the government's understanding of our reality. We have a great responsibility to the retirees we house, and we are deploying all the necessary means to make our complexes safe for them. Our employees are currently on a mission. They work tirelessly, at all hours of the day and night, to listen to them and support them in this situation. In keeping with the protective measures we currently have in place, our residences are the safest place for seniors."
