Grandy offers free services for quarantined elders to connect with grandkids online, bringing joy during difficult times

SAN FRANCISCO, March 19, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- As Bay Area residents shelter in place, many of the passengers who were quarantined on the Grand Princess cruise ship in San Francisco Bay last week are still quarantined at the Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, California. San Francisco based startup, Grandy, is offering these passengers free memberships to its service, providing activities for grandparents to enjoy with grandkids from afar.

Grandy provides virtual visits for elders and children to connect while playing games, memorializing life stories and sharing hobbies such as cooking and art. Today Grandy announced that it would be offering its service for free to the quarantined Grand Princess passengers and discounting memberships nationwide for the remainder of the month.

Founder Jennifer Rhodes said, "Protecting grandparents is our primary concern. During this time when millions of older adults are sheltering away from family to protect against COVID 19, we will offer free and discounted services to keep families connected and bring some joy and peace of mind during this difficult time."

For parents wanting to remain close at heart in the face of distance and increased life challenges, Grandy's unique digital service provides an easy, safe and private platform that works seamlessly on computers, tablets and mobile devices, ensuring that family members can keep in touch anywhere and anytime. Grandy's content, features, and capabilities are designed for elders, adult children and youth (ages 8 and over), and offer a range of activities, game of the week, reminders and levels of engagement that can be curated to the individual needs and interests of each user. Its service strives to close the generational divide through technology.

For seamless onboarding, Grandy offers a telephone concierge to help grandparents easily set up and use the platform. To learn more about or sign up for Grandy's subscription service, please visit www.grandy.com
