Daniel Pleasant Holoman Secures NC Medical Malpractice Jury Verdict Against Ashe County Memorial & Watauga County Spine Surgeon

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C., March 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The case arose from care provided at Ashe County Memorial Hospital by a Watauga County spine surgeon several years ago. Mr. Ballou alleged his excruciating complications went untreated for days despite numerous calls to the surgeon's office, an approximate 7-hour stay in Ashe County Memorial's emergency department, and the spine surgeon's further delays in surgical intervention after Mr. Ballou was transferred to Watauga Medical Center. He alleged that the delay in diagnosing and treating the complication, a well-known condition called spinal epidural hematoma, resulted in compression on his spinal cord, and ultimately led to permanent spinal cord injury. He was unable to return to work as a result of his injuries.
