President Donald J. Trump Delivers Remarks at The Latino Coalition Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, March 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 4, The Latino Coalition (TLC), the nation's leading non-partisan advocacy organization representing Hispanic businesses and consumers, hosted President Donald J. Trump at their Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.

The event brought together small business owners from around the world with influential U.S. leaders and Cabinet members, including U.S. Small Business Administrator Jovita Carranza, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson and U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.

"The American economy is firing on all cylinders, and Latinos are at the forefront of the economic boom," said Hector Barreto, TLC's Chairman and former U.S. Small Business Administrator. "President Trump and his Administration understand the unique challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship. They 'get' small business, and the small business community appreciates it! This event was an opportunity to show that appreciation to an administration that has done so much to create an environment where entrepreneurs can succeed."

During his remarks, President Trump said: "The phenomenal achievements of Latino business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and workers are lifting our nation to soaring new heights. You are powering the American Dream."

He went on to emphasize how, from the beginning of our Republic, the Hispanic community has been a vital and indispensable part of the American family.

"Latinos have invigorated our economy, expanded our prosperity and poured their heart, sweat and soul into our beloved country. With the hard work, love, and devotion of millions of incredible Hispanic-Americans, our country is thriving, our people are prospering, and our future has...never looked better than it does right now," the President added.

The day-long Legislative Summit served as a platform to discuss economic growth of and policy issues such as procurement, education and regulatory reform. Through high-impact panels and dynamic breakout sessions, attendees were given critical tools and resources, as well as an opportunity to build their professional and personal networks.

Notable guests included: newly confirmed U.S. Small Business Administrator Jovita Carranza; U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson; U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos; U.S. Rep. William Hurd (TX-23); Jennifer Korn, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the White House Office of Liaison; U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee (CA-13); Ruben Barrales, Senior Vice President, External Relations, Wells Fargo & Company; Dan Bryant, SVP Global Public Policy and Government Affairs Walmart; Eric Hoplin, Head of External Relations for Wells Fargo & Company and Daniel Garza, President The Libre Initiative to name a few.

Newly appointed U.S. SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza spoke on the record-setting tax cuts saying: "If it weren't for the President's tax cuts, we would not have our economy fueled with the vitality we are experiencing and all of the business owners in this room, as well as small businesses I have visited across this nation, are experiencing. It is historic...thank you for being such a friend of the Hispanic community."

Additionally, Chairman Barreto announced new partnerships through cooperative agreements for TLC Matchpoint, the organization's recently launched procurement tool for small business. These organizations join TLC's network of 100+ partners working to enhance the overall business, economic and social objectives of the Hispanic community.

"The Latino Coalition has planned an exciting year convening and engaging with the engine of our economy. We look forward to connecting with businesspeople at the DNC Summit in Wisconsin and the RNC Summit in North Carolina to hear powerful stories of success and continue advocating for valuable pro-business policies that will bolster the entrepreneurial community," Barreto added.
