Discovery Behavioral Health Acquires New Hope Ranch, Adding to Its Portfolio Of Treatment Centers in Austin, TX

LOS ANGELES, March 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Discovery Behavioral Health, an expanding network of evidence-based mental health, substance abuse and eating disorder treatment centers, has acquired New Hope Ranch, one of the leading providers of addiction and mental health services in the greater Austin, TX area. This acquisition marks the latest addition to the DBH treatment centers in metro Austin including the Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program, an intensive outpatient center located in downtown Austin, and Center for Discovery, an outpatient eating disorder program located in the city's Clarksville community.

New Hope Ranch, located in Manor, TX, is a residential treatment center focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment and reintegration for people suffering from substance use disorder. Services are provided on a picturesque, 9-acre ranch just 15 minutes from downtown Austin.

"We are thrilled to welcome New Hope Ranch to the Discovery Behavioral Health family. The acquisition is an excellent geographical fit with services that are complementary to our existing facilities in Texas, enabling us to deliver superior quality care to more people in need," says Joe Tinervin, MSW, Division President at Discovery Behavioral Health.

New Hope Ranch's mission has two basic purposes: to improve social behavior and enhance personal recovery and growth. The organization has a culture of innovation that thrives on the creation of new services that meet the community's needs while striving for effectiveness, excellence, and professionalism. It values an integrated system of high-quality care focused on best practices, easy access to services, and providing a full range of services in an efficient manner.

"In addition to providing treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, New Hope Ranch has played a valuable role in servicing our military families and veterans through an integrative approach that looks at the whole person, and combines mainstream therapies with complementary and alternative therapies to bring healing to all areas of one's life," says Tinervin.

New Hope Ranch has met the rigorous standards and regulations of The Joint Commission Accreditation for Addiction Treatment, acknowledged as the gold standard in accreditation. The center offers full medical detoxification, supervised by a medical team consisting of a medical doctor, a board-certified psychiatrist and nurses staffed 24/7.

The acquisition of New Hope Ranch comes at a time when the national opioid crisis continues to engulf the nation. Austin-Travis County currently has one of the highest rates of opioid-related deaths in Texas, according to state officials. Since 2006, an average of 127 residents have died each year due to all drug overdoses, with an average of 42% (53) from opioid overdoses. Additionally, "methamphetamine has now surpassed heroin in many indicators and is now the primary public health problem in Texas," according to the National Drug Early Warning System, as reported in a commentary earlier this month in the Austin-American Statesman daily newspaper.

Discovery Behavioral Health President & CEO John Peloquin notes, "As a nation, we're now in middle of the so-called Fourth Wave of the opioid epidemic. There's a great need today for the professional treatment of substance use disorder as well as other mental health services. New Hope Ranch shares the philosophy of Discovery Behavioral Health, providing access to  comprehensive, evidence-based treatment. "
