Residents Delight in the Winter Olympic Games at Palm Bay Memory Care

VERO BEACH, Fla., March 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- At Palm Bay Memory Care, residents, family members and associates joined together for festive and friendly competition in the Palm Bay 2020 Winter Olympic Games.  Watercrest Senior Living, operator of Palm Bay Memory Care, coordinated the Olympic Games as part of Watercrest's Live Exhilaratedtm program, which encourages resident's creativity, activity, and social engagement while engaging in diverse and enriching programs.

Watercrest's unique approach to healthy aging focuses on individuals achieving personal wholeness through participation in programs aligned with the seven facets of wholeness: Get Active, Be Curious, Get Connected, Be Uplifted, Get Creative, Be Social, and Be Adventurous

The Palm Bay Winter Olympic Games kicked off with Opening Ceremonies as residents marched to traditional opening music while carrying their torches.  The resident Olympians competed in a snowball toss, curling, and bobsled races with specially designed bobsleds, hand-built by Mr. John Winchester.

"Our goal for the event was to stay active and utilize our abilities to their full potential," says Michele Lyon, Executive Director of Palm Bay Memory Care.  "Our residents were smiling and laughing all day; they loved the competition and cheering each other on, especially in the bobsled races.  It was a truly memorable event."

The Live Exhilaratedtm program was created specifically for Watercrest Senior Living by Hollie Kemp, a nationally recognized award-winning dementia and memory care specialist.  Palm Bay Memory Care recently launched the program, focusing on the active pursuit of 'personal wholeness' for each resident.
