New Dominican Embassy in Abu Dhabi Is Country's First Mission to the Middle East as Number of Dominican Economic Citizens in UAE Grows

LONDON, Jan. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, a new Dominican embassy was inaugurated in Abu Dhabi, marking the Caribbean country's first mission to the Middle East. The UAE Minister of Energy and Industry, Suhail Al Mazroui, was a Guest of Honour at the opening event and took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, who attended the ceremony, said that the new embassy also comes to service a "small but dynamic" community of Dominican economic citizens in the UAE, which is growing via the island's world-leading Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.

Special guests joined the inauguration of the new Dominican Embassy, showing support for the small Caribbean island. His Excellency Hubert John Charles was appointed as the Ambassador of Dominica to the UAE. Prior to this, H.E. Ambassador Charles served as the Dominican Ambassador to the US and as the Permanent Representative of Dominica at the Organisation of American States.

He added that the new Dominican Embassy in Abu Dhabi will serve as "A crucial link between what is in effect the Dominican diaspora here in the UAE and the homeland."
