Cisco Product Wins "Industrial IoT Innovation of the Year" in 2020 IoT Breakthrough Awards Program

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- IoT Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global Internet-of-Things (IoT) market, today announced that Cisco, the worldwide technology leader that has been making the Internet work since 1984, has been selected as the winner of the "Industrial IoT Innovation of the Year" award in the 4th annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program for its Catalyst IW6300 Heavy Duty Series Access Points.

The Cisco Catalyst IW6300 Heavy Duty Series Access Points transform and extend the IoT edge to new frontiers with several "breakthrough" innovations that propel Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) in smart city, manufacturing and other industrial applications. The access points are Class I, Division 2 certified for hazardous locations and meet IP67 standard for wet and dusty conditions. Now, IoT deployments in manufacturing environments, chemical plants, oil refineries, and mining are much easier to scale and secure.

The new access point delivers pervasive wireless connectivity including wireless mesh backhaul, helping provide mobile workers with highly secure, real-time data access in-plant. Companies can get reliable data collection, improve worker safety, and increase plant productivity ? even in unpredictable conditions.

"The Cisco IoT portfolio is transforming the IoT Edge with intent-based networking that's flexible, secure and scalable, and the new Catalyst solutions continue Cisco's legacy of innovation in this space with first of its kind features for a host of industrial IoT solutions," said James Johnson, managing director at IoT Breakthrough. "Cisco's innovation in the realm of IIoT is an important breakthrough in that it allows companies to securely connect harsh environments and remote locations at the IoT Edge. We are extremely proud to name Cisco winner of our 'Industrial IoT Innovation of the Year' award in the 2020 IoT Breakthrough Awards program."

The mission of the IoT Breakthrough Awards program is to recognize the innovators, leaders and visionaries from around the globe in a range of IoT categories, including Industrial and Enterprise IoT, Smart City technology, Connected Home and Home Automation, Connected Car, and many more. This year's program attracted more than 3,700 nominations from companies all over the world.

"Traditional access points have numerous restrictions (ability to meet regulatory requirements, design customizations, etc.) that have made it challenging for companies to realize the true value and significant benefits of IoT in hazardous locations," said Samuel Pasquier, Head of IoT Industrial Networking Product Management at Cisco. "The Cisco Catalyst IW6300 Heavy Duty Access Points overcome traditional limitations, delivering compelling benefits that enable our customers to boost site productivity, increase production efficiency, and address compliance requirements and safety regulations. We are proud to receive this significant industry recognition as we extend IoT connectivity to the harshest environments."
