Personalized Media Communications Receives its 100th Patent from the USPTO

Personalized Media Communications, LLC (PMC) received its 100th patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. This patent is the latest in a series of patents disclosing and claiming the inventions of John C. Harvey and James Cuddihy on visionary developments in media distribution and network control.

PMC was founded in 1981 by John C. Harvey, a prolific independent inventor with a farsighted view of how information could be individualized and securely distributed. PMC licenses Mr. Harvey's patents which cover the use of control and information signals embedded in electronic media content to control media distribution and content access. These foundational inventions have been incorporated in a wide range of products: from set top boxes and televisions to websites which provide ecommerce capabilities and software updates.

Because of the scope and depth of Mr. Harvey and Mr. Cuddihy's innovations, PMC has been engaged in the prosecution of its patent portfolio for many years. The portfolio now consists of more than 90 unexpired patents covering significant numbers of Harvey and Cuddihy's inventions from the early and mid-1980's.

"After 38 years in business, PMC is still inventing and receiving patents on its inventions," said Mary C. "Kazie" Metzger, CEO. "Ninety-three patents are in force, and the company continues to license whenever possible and to litigate when necessary. Our patents have been licensed to some of the most sophisticated companies in the world because they recognize the value of our inventions and appreciate our reasonable, businesslike approach. With this milestone 100th patent, our portfolio now extends the scope of our patent coverage and we look forward to many more years of licensing."
