Fitch Upgrades Kemper's Key Financial Strength Ratings


Kemper Corporation (NYSE: KMPR) announced today that Fitch Ratings upgraded key financial strength ratings of Kemper, including its property and casualty lead operating subsidiary, Trinity Universal Insurance Co., to 'A' and its holding company senior debt ratings to 'BBB'.

The Rating Outlooks for Trinity and Kemper's Issuer Default Rating (IDR) have been revised to Stable and the ratings of Kemper's life insurance subsidiaries have been reaffirmed with a Stable Outlook.

"We are pleased that Fitch has recognized Kemper for our improved operating performance, strong capitalization and risk management capabilities, and the success of our Infinity Property and Casualty Corporation acquisition," said Joseph P. Lacher, Jr., president and CEO. "This is another acknowledgement of the strength of our operating model, balance sheet, and underlying market fundamentals."
