Oregon Bio and Catalyze Team up to Host Northwest Reception at Prestigious JP Morgan Conference

The Pacific Northwest's bioscience and digital health sector will be on display ?Beyond the Bay' at the J.P. Morgan healthcare investor conference next week.

Oregon Bioscience Association and Catalyze are hosting the Beyond The Bay Pacific NW Networking Reception from 4-7 p.m. on January 14, 2020, at the 38th JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. The conference runs from Jan. 13-16. Northwest companies attending will include those in the biotechnology, digital, medical device and pharmaceutical sectors.

More than 300 people from the Pacific Northwest are slated to attend the San Francisco reception on Jan. 14.

According to conference planners, the annual JP Morgan Healthcare Conference is the largest and most informative healthcare investment symposium in the industry, bringing together industry leaders, emerging fast-growth companies, innovative technology creators, and members of the investment community.

The keynote speaker at the reception, Eric D. Hargan, the national Deputy Secretary for Health and Human Services, will give an overview of HHS's efforts encouraging innovation. Local med-entrepreneur Ray Constantini of Bright.MD will also speak about why Portland is a great place to grow a digital health company.

"While the JP Morgan Conference is itself an exclusive event, it has spawned a global hub for healthcare investment. We're co-hosting the Northwest's bio and digital health reception so local attendees can connect, network, hold meetings and create partnerships," said Liisa Bozinovic, Oregon Bio's Executive Director. She added, "Oregon Bio is excited to support the continued growth of bioscience in the Pacific Northwest." Oregon Bio, Catalyze and partnering sponsors are expecting hundreds of biotech-focused investors and industry experts at the Pacific Northwest networking reception.

Reception co-organizer Charla Triplett, Founder and President of Catalyze, said, "We saw a real need to help connect local startups with early-stage capital." She added, "This event is a way to reach out and create awareness about the opportunity for unique deal flow existing here in the Pacific Northwest. These efforts are a part of a larger push to support the Medtech and Digital Health Innovation Zone forming in the Portland area."

The Pacific Northwest Networking Reception is also sponsored by Oregon Bioscience Incubator, Summit Development Group, Oregon State University's College of Engineering, Aventurine, Cambia Grove, Washington State Department of Commerce, Make & Scale and VectorPoint Ventures. Successful entrepreneurs from Oregon and Washington will offer brief remarks and one of our sponsors, Cambia Grove, will engage attendees in an informal dialogue about how we, as changemakers, can work together to create a person-focused and economically sustainable health care system. The reception offers locally-sourced Pacific Northwest wine, beer and seasonal artisan delights.
