Mediaplanet and Jane Fonda Team up for Environmental Action

NEW YORK, Dec. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mediaplanet today launches its multi-platform "Environmental Protection" campaign. Exploring the intersections of the natural and built environment, this campaign draws inspiration from leaders across industries who are advocating for individuals to learn more about humankind's impact on the earth.

Protecting our planet is a topic that touches nearly all industries. The Environmental Protection campaign highlights changemakers committed to bringing greater awareness to sustainable building options, renewable energy, wildlife protection, water efficiency, and careers in sustainability.

The print component of the campaign is distributed within today's edition of USA TODAY in the New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C./Baltimore, South Florida, Seattle, Denver, and San Francisco markets, with a circulation of 200,000 copies and an estimated readership of 600,000. The digital component is distributed nationally through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Actress, long-time social activist, and Fire Drill Friday Leader Jane Fonda is featured on the cover of the print publication. In an exclusive interview, Fonda explains why environmental action is needed more now than ever. She implores readers to listen to the voices of the younger generations, like Earth Guardian XIuhtezcatl Martinez (also featured), and emphasizes using our platforms to bring diverse leadership to the front of the environmental movement.

"What we have to do in the next 11 years is humongous, so what I want people to understand through this action is that it's time to leave our comfort zone, it's no time for business as usual," Fonda says. "We have to go further than we ever have before." Part of Fire Drill Friday actions are educational teach-ins aimed at educating people on a breadth of topics related to environmental justice. Another famous friend of Fire Drill Fridays, Ted Danson, is featured in the campaign as an advocate for oceans. He explains how actions taken to protect our oceans also protect us, creating jobs for our communities and putting food on our tables. Echoing Fonda's message, Danson also highlights his position as a supporter of advocates and communities on the frontlines of climate change.

Central to the campaign is education about environmental protection. Helping to share this message and point readers in the right direction, we thank the Climate Reality Project, Conservation International, American Institute of Architects, United States Green Building Council-LA, Amazon Watch, Rainforest Trust, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Mayor Sam Liccardo of the City of San Jose, Terracycle, Danni Washington, Goodman Manufacturing, James Hardie, APCOM, Duke Nicholas School of the Environment, International Society of Sustainability Professionals, Association of Supply Chain Management, Earth Guardians, XIuhtezcatl Martinez, Jane Fonda, and Ted Danson for their collaboration.
