Media advisory - Housing and homelessness crisis: Housing right organizations, FRAPRU and the Réseau SOLIDARITÉ Itinérance du Québec, will be protesting in Ottawa
MONTRÉAL, Dec. 9, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - As the winter season arises, the glaring needs of homeless people and at risk of becoming homeless in Quebec and Canada are rapidly rising. The housing crisis is forcing the most vulnerable citizens to be in a homeless situation, the Front d'action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) and Réseau SOLIDARITÉ Itinérance du Québec (RSIQ) urges the Liberal government of Justin Trudeau to increase the investment towards social housing in its next planned budget; they also ask for an increase in the amounts provided for the revitalisation and basic upkeep of public housing, and those dedicated to the federal homelessness program, At home, without imposing any guidelines to take into account the diversity of the homeless situation.
A few days after the resumption of parliamentary procedures, more than 200 low-income tenants, homeless people and activists for the right to housing from Gatineau, Montreal and Montérégie will protest in Ottawa on Tuesday, December 10th.
