Media advisory - Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec to participate in the December 6 commemoration


MONTREAL, Dec. 3, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Representatives of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) will participate in various commemoration events of the 30th anniversary of the Polytechnique tragedy, which took the lives of 14 women, including 12 who were preparing to become engineers.

To pay homage to the victims and survivors, OIQ President Kathy Baig, Eng., FEC, MBA, will participate on December 6 in the following events:

Anne Baril, Eng., elected Board member and Vice President of the OIQ, will participate in the Order of the White Rose scholarship ceremony at 11 a.m. on December 5 at Polytechnique.

To mark this anniversary, the OIQ will encourage its employees to wear a white ribbon on December 6, which stands for the elimination of violence towards women and girls. The 65,000 current and future members of the profession will be encouraged to do the same.
