STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN Named Finalist in 2020 Bett Awards in International Digital Educational Resource Category

STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN has been selected as a finalist in the internationally-esteemed 2020 Bett Awards. Incubated in the teacher development lab at Rice University, developed and tested in classrooms by Accelerate Learning-STEMscopes, and powered by CNN, the next-generation K-12 science solution was shortlisted for a Bett Award in the International Digital Educational Resource category.

STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN combines the award-winning digital STEMscopes curriculum with content curated from CNN's world-renowned news and current events archive. From eye-opening virtual reality experiences to breaking science news, immersive content connects students to real-world events and issues, and challenges them to innovate, create, and problem solve. Using hands-on materials, videos, augmented reality, simulations, and observations of the natural world, students can explore real-world phenomena and events the way STEM professionals do: through their five senses.

STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN also provides extensive support for teachers, including embedded professional development, instructional resources to support differentiated learning, and a variety of assessments.

"The way we teach science to students is just as critical as the content we provide to them. With STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN, students not only become informed citizens but understand how theories and concepts learned in the classroom apply to the world around them," said Vernon Johnson, president and CEO of Accelerate Learning. "We're honored to be recognized by Bett, and we're excited to continue our work with teachers around the world to create the next generation of scientists, innovators, and problem solvers."

The Bett Awards are a celebration of the inspiring creativity and innovation that can be found throughout technology for education. The winners of each category will be announced at the Bett Awards 2020 Ceremony taking place on Jan. 22 in London.

STEMscopes Science Powered by CNN is available in all countries outside the United States through ministries of education, schools, and in-country distributors worldwide.
