Open Access Is Promoting Financial Literacy Through Its Retirement Readiness Club

TORONTO, Nov. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Open Access, a Toronto-based provider of group retirement plans, is taking concrete steps to improve the financial literacy of its plan members. As part of that effort, the firm recently launched the Retirement Readiness Club, a member-exclusive resource providing access to retirement planning information, tools, and webinars. All plan members, regardless of age are being encouraged to join.

"It has become increasingly apparent that financial literacy is something that many Canadians are struggling with," said Gary Payne, Open Access' President & CEO. "The Retirement Readiness Club is our way of addressing this issue. We hope that by offering our plan members this retirement planning support, we can equip them with the knowledge and tools they need to approach retirement with confidence."

Plan members that join the club receive a comprehensive retirement planning toolkit which includes budgeting worksheets, detailed information on government benefits, and even guidance on how to navigate the emotional aspects of retirement. This is followed up by regular communications and webinars addressing the various facets of retirement planning and financial wellness more broadly.

"We are regularly soliciting feedback from plan members to see how we can improve on the content that is being made available to them," said Julie Boyd, Vice President, Client Services. "At the end of the day, what's important is that we provide them with content that is both helpful and engaging."

As a retirement plan provider, Open Access sets itself apart by unburdening plan members from the need to make complex investment decisions on their own by offering them a team of registered portfolio managers who do that on their behalf. The firm does not own and sell any proprietary funds due to its conflict-free structure as a fiduciary.

"We have always taken care of the investment component for our plan members," said Payne. "But we recognize that there is more to achieving good retirement outcomes than just sound investing and that's why we are adopting a holistic approach with the Retirement Readiness Club."

Any employers interested in learning more about the Retirement Readiness Club are encouraged to contact Open Access.
