The Hermitage Hotel is Named 2019 Best City Center Historic Hotel By Historic Hotels of America

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee is pleased to announce the hotel has received the coveted title of "Best City Center Historic Hotel" by the Historic Hotels of America at the 2019 Awards of Excellence. The Hermitage Hotel is one of over 300 hotels and resorts around the United States recognized for preserving and maintaining historic integrity, architecture and ambiance. The 2019 Annual Awards Ceremony and Gala took place at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina on Thursday, November 7. The award winners were announced before an audience of owners, senior management, industry leaders and representatives from the finest historic hotels around the world.

"We are so very proud to accept this award distinguishing The Hermitage Hotel as not only one of Nashville's most important historical icons, but as one of the finest historic hotels in the country," said Dee Patel, Managing Director of The Hermitage Hotel. "This honor is made even more meaningful as we prepare in 2020 to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, in which The Hermitage Hotel played an integral role serving as the headquarters for the suffrage movement."

With an illustrious 110-year history in the heart of downtown Nashville, The Hermitage Hotel is deeply committed to protecting and preserving its ties to the past and remaining a cherished historic landmark for the city. Known as Nashville's original million-dollar property, The Hermitage is a timeless icon of Southern hospitality and the state's most luxurious hotel. Since opening in 1910, the hotel's restaurant, Capitol Grille, has been one of the most beloved dining locales in Nashville, and its famous Oak Bar is one of the most quintessential spots to grab a drink in Music City, with a Prohibition era feel and an extensive 152-bottle Bourbon library.

Each year, the Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence honor, encourage and recognize the most exemplary historic hotels, hoteliers and leadership practices. The Awards of Excellence are presented to those that demonstrate innovative leadership, stewardship and contribution to furthering the recognition, preservation and celebration of these preeminent properties and their histories. Award recipients are selected from nominations submitted by historic hotels, historic preservation supporters, prior award recipients and leadership of Historic Hotels of America.

"Congratulations to the recipients of the 2019 Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence. These 2019 winners represent more nearly 500 years of history and include the finest legendary and iconic historic hotels from across the United States of America," said Lawrence Horwitz, Executive Director, Historic Hotels of America.
