Praecipio Consulting Announces a Response to the Global Climate Crisis

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Beginning November 1, 2019, Praecipio Consulting is moving to a work-from-work optional approach expanding its work from home program. This is in addition to moving to a much smaller office space. This announcement is due in part to the launch of our Global Climate Crisis Response Plan, which includes these major changes in how our company chooses to operate ? all in an effort to reduce our company's overall carbon footprint.

According to Global Workplace Analytics, 50 percent of the American workforce currently holds telecommute-compatible jobs. If those people worked from home half the time, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54 million metric tons annually, the equivalent of taking almost 10 million cars off the road. It would also reduce annual oil consumption by 640 million barrels. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the U.S. uses approximately 19 million barrels of oil every day. If people worked from home part-time, 1.75 million of those barrels?almost 10 percent?could be eliminated. In addition to reducing oil consumption, other benefits teleworking can gift to the environment are the reduction of air pollution and water pollution (from chemicals spilled into our waterways, rivers, and other water sources).

Our overarching goal is to be carbon neutral by the end of 2020; Praecipio Consulting's Global Climate Crisis Response Plan is launching into action with five specific areas in mind:

1. Travel Reduction - By the end of 2020, reduce our annual company average travel to 25% or less
2. Expand Work from Home - Reduce carbon emissions associated with commuting and large office footprints
3. Lead the Way - Encourage and incentivize personal impacts and changes within and outside of Praecipio Consulting
4. Reverse Course - Reverse course on carbon emissions damages while moving forward as the human species
5. Community Engagement - Fund (and participate with) organizations that offset carbon, or support a regenerative model (reforestation and grassland restoration)

The environmental, scientific facts are all we need to "do good." As a business and as the individual citizens who make up our company, it is our responsibility to not just hear these facts, but to pivot into action and lean-in to the scientific community's consensus in a meaningful way. While the positive impacts our exclusive teleworking policy will have on the environment are a step in the right direction, and a major part of our Global Climate Crisis Response Plan, we will also do more to fulfill our obligation through community engagement. Through Pledge 1% (an initiative we've been involved with since 2015), we will partner with environmental organizations, who's conservation missions are in-line with our own. We sincerely hope that our collaborative efforts with other organizations who have been fighting for a healthier climate will significantly increase our impact for the future of all living things on Earth.
