National Social Security Advisor Certificate Education Classes Set for 10 U.S. Cities in 2020

CINCINNATI, Nov. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®) certificate education classes for professional advisors will be offered in 10 cities nationwide in 2020, double the number of classes offered in 2019.

The nation's only accredited Social Security education certificate program will also expand to 15 webinars offered during the year, said Marc Kiner, partner with Premier Social Security Consulting in Cincinnati, which teaches the courses.

The live 2020 NSSA classroom schedule is: Ft. Lauderdale on Jan. 16; Cincinnati on Jan. 31; March 31; June 23; Sept. 16; and Dec. 7; Orlando, Fla. on March 10; San Antonio, Tex., on April 30; Atlanta, Ga., on June 2; Chicago on June 25; Cleveland, July 20; at the F.D.R. Museum in Hyde Park, Pa., Sept. 21; and in New York City, Sept. 23.

Webinars will be held Jan. 13 and 29; Feb. 18; March 2 and 26; April 6; May 4; June 18; July 23; August 20; Sept. 14; Oct. 19; Nov. 16; and Dec. 10 and 21.

All live and webinar NSSA education programming runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"We're a big proponent of Situational Social Security," said Kiner. "Every retiree has a unique situation in life?whether it's being married, divorced, widowed, a retiree, a minor child, veteran or public employee. No matter what situation our NSSA advisors come across with their clients, we can help."

NSSA's accreditation is provided by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) in Washington, D.C. Professional advisors who typically enroll in the courses include CPAs; financial advisors; attorneys; insurance agents and enrolled agents.

The NSSA certificate is awarded to advisors who take the NSSA course and pass an assessment. The National Social Security Association has awarded more than 2,000 NSSA certificates since the program began in 2013.

"The NSSA program has become an industry standard that signals to colleagues and clients that you are able to provide them with thoughtful, strategic and expert advice on how to maximize Social Security benefits," said Kiner.

The U.S. has an estimated 76 million baby boomers, nearly 20 percent of the nation's population. Ten thousand boomers reach the full retirement age of 65 each day nationwide, said Jim Blair, Premier partner.

"That's why we increased the number of NSSA classes in 2020 and anticipate growing the number of NSSA certificate holders by 25 percent," he said. "It's estimated that about 90 percent of American retirees nationwide don't maximize their Social Security income; in this age of increased longevity and longer retirements, we want to help retirees make certain they don't outlive their money."

Kiner had a 39-year career as a certified public accountant and CPA business owner. Blair has 35 years of experience as a career Social Security employee and manager with the Piqua, Ohio, Social Security office.

Premier offers the NSSA Social Security education certificate program in live, all-day classes and web-based training workshops where students can participate in a live, one-day program with an NSSA instructor; and in 19-module, video-based, on-demand courses taught by NSSA instructors. On-demand students can complete workshop lectures and activities on their own time.

NSSA certificate holders receive ongoing support and resources throughout the year. Ongoing support includes questions answered and monthly webinars. The webinars help NSSA certificate holders maintain Social Security knowledge and keep up to date.

Eight continuing education credits are awarded for live classroom attendees.

Premier also offers private, on-site classes for organizations that need to provide in-house
Social Security training to multiple professional advisors.

"We've found that professional advisors, like the rest of us, are increasingly pressed for time," said Kiner. "More advisors are choosing the all-day webinar option and on-demand videos over the live classroom. The live classes, webinars and on-demand videos all have the same content. Advisors who choose webinars and on-demand options can learn and expand their expertise in the Social Security program in the privacy of a company conference room or the comfort of a home office."

More financial advisors are basing their practices on the needs of baby boomers, said Blair. Premier now offers by subscription a Social Security Help Centerstm internet-based, lead generation tool for professional advisors.

Premier also has a strategic partnership with Social Security Pro, which offers professional advisors a Social Security benefits calculation tool. The extensively researched and patented Social Security Pro software program is a web-based tool that can run clients' Social Security calculations for them, said Kiner.

"People always need Social Security education," said Blair. "It's a complicated subject and if you don't keep up with it, you tend to forget it. That's why we continually review information with our NSSA advisor clients with ongoing support and keep them up to date on any new changes.

"Everything we do at Premier is aimed at educating professional advisors about the Social Security program so they can provide wise counsel to their clients on how to maximize Social Security."
